Different sites, different rules, one account
Locations are not just filters. Each carries its own timezone, sales targets and compliance rule pack, so a multi-jurisdiction operator is not running two systems.

What usually goes wrong
One compliance setting for every site
Most tools apply a single scheduling policy org-wide, which breaks the moment two sites sit under different ordinances.
Timezones quietly corrupt the numbers
When punches are bucketed by the org’s timezone, a late shift at a distant site lands on the wrong day and the day’s labor is wrong.
People work across sites
Hour caps and overtime are per person, not per location — but reporting is usually per location only.
What Sofia does about it
Rule packs per location
Set Seattle at one site and NYC fast food at another; a site without a pack inherits the org default.
Fair-workweek complianceThe location’s own timezone
Punches and labor actuals are bucketed by the location’s timezone, matching the day domain its schedule uses.
Labor cost controlCaps follow the person
Weekly hour caps, overtime thresholds and rest rules are evaluated per worker across the sites they work.
Rostering & Auto-FillQuestions, answered
Can two locations follow different fair-workweek ordinances?
Yes. Each location can carry its own rule pack — thresholds, premiums and notice window — resolved over the organization default. Sofia stores which preset you chose, so the jurisdiction label survives even when two ordinances share identical numbers.
Do locations have their own timezones?
Yes, and it matters: punches are attributed using the location’s timezone so a late shift is counted on the day it was worked rather than shifted by the head-office clock.
Is there a per-location fee?
Yes — that is the SKU. $200 per store per month, unlimited staff at that site.
